Laura is a Research & Program Consultant for IRIS’ Latin America work. She is a Venezuelan researcher and communicator based in France.
Laura is a big believer in people’s power to fight back and organize and is passionate about the many ways people from different backgrounds can inspire and learn from one another. Her academic interests feed all her lines of work, combining a degree in languages and literature and a PhD in education sciences and informal learning.
Laura has been working with digital rights communities for the last 15 years and her academic research follows learning in virtual spaces and online communities, especially intercultural learning and digital security. Laura has worked with Global Voices/Advox as the Latin America editor and as Mozilla’s Internet Health Report Outreach Coordinator. In addition to her work with Stories for Impact, she serves as IFEX’s Americas regional editor, Mozilla Festival’s language inclusion lead and an independent facilitator in intercultural communication for a variety of universities in France.
